Posted: September 7, 2005
With contributions from the German Embassy and Fair Trade premiums, on August 27 CECOVASA opened its second coffee quality laboratory in the Inambari valley.
According to Juan José Gironda Lipa, Chairman of the Inambari Cooperative:
“August 27th 2005 will be a historic date for this valley; after 35 years we now have a laboratory that will allow us to learn about and improve the quality of the coffees coming from this valley: Tunki, Quechua, Sillpa and Inambari. We are poor but we’ve done our part because we know that having a laboratory will help improve quality and prices will be better. We have worked hard to achieve the best results, something that is worthy of our coffees and of us, the Quechua people.”
Two years ago CECOVASA opened their first laboratory in Putina Punco (Tambopata Valley), also with contributions from German Embassy and Fair Trade premiums.
