Fundraising Program Part-time Support Print E-mail
Equal Exchange is seeking Fundraising Program Part-time Support responsible for helping develop Equal Exchange’s Fundraising Program. Through the sale of Equal Exchange’s coffee, tea and chocolate products, schools and community groups are able to raise funds for their own group while supporting small-scale farmers and their communities. This person will support the Fundraising Program Manager in this growing program.

Equal Exchange's Organizing Department uses a team approach to engage Equal Exchange consumers through grassroots, multi-sensory, organizing tools. We provide individuals and consumer organizations with user-friendly tools for them to learn, teach and act in order to strengthen Equal Exchange’s brand community.

This is a part-time position out of our West Bridgewater, MA office. Equal Exchange is a worker-owned cooperative and an equal opportunity employer. Job Description:
  • Employment Status: Part-time
  • Pay: $11/hour
  • Hours: 20 hours/week, and up
  • Start: Spring 2008
  • End: December 2008. Potential for permanent position starting January 2009
  • Reports to: Fundraising Program Manager
Qualifications:
  • Outgoing, personable and enjoys interacting with the public
  • Can clearly communicate the EE Fundraising program message
  • As with all other job responsibilities, able to work well individually and as a team
  • Ability to do physical, repetitive tasks
  • Detail-oriented, able to follow instructions

Responsibilities:

    Events (5 hrs/week)

    • Attend 4-6 new events
    • Understand criteria to determine worthwhile events
    • Source new events
    • Plan and pack for each event
    • Includes travel


    Packaging (3 hrs/week)

    • Work with Fundraising Program Manager to execute pilot packaging program
    • Schools in 3 states (~25 orders)
    • Pick and pack orders according to instructions


    Administrative support (5 hrs/week)

    • Assist with day-to-day tasks and help FR program when needed
    • Mailings, special projects


    Selling - primarily through cold calls (5 hrs/week)

    • Contacting potential fundraising accounts
    • Sourcing prospect lists
    • Calling organizations; selling to new customers
    • Tracking information in a database
