We Opened a Minnesota Office
Equal Exchange is excited to introduce the Minnesota Project. Scott Patterson, Dana Johnson, Joe Riemann & Emmy Myszka will be delivering directly to Twin Cities natural foods co-ops along with what we hope will be a growing list of other retailers, cafes, and interfaith organizations. The Minnesota office will be collaborating with the unique local co-op movement of the Twin Cities through educational demos and direct interaction with customers. The team is enthusiastic about raising Fair-Trade awareness throughout the Midwest by sharing the Equal Exchange story, mission and products. |

Increased Payments to Farmers
Equal Exchange has decided to raise the price we guarantee to the coffee farmer cooperatives with whom we trade. Our new minimum prices, effective as of April 2007, are $1.36 for conventional coffee and $1.56 for certified organic coffee. At the same time, the Fair Trade Labeling Organization (FLO) has decided to raise the world-wide Fair Trade minimum coffee prices as well: $1.31 conventional, $1.51 organic, effective June 1st. We support FLO’s decision, and at the same time we are happy to be able to offer even higher prices to our trading partners. Read the article that explains our decision and some background. |
Bringing Fair Trade Home
With the continuing loss of family farms eroding rural communities, small farmers in the
US face challenges that are similar in many ways to those of farmers in the developing
world. For 20 years, Equal Exchange has been building Fair Trade by partnering with small
farmer co-ops in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Now we are extending our model to family
farmers, farm workers, and farmer co-operatives here in North America. With your help,
we're Bringing Fair Trade Home.Read about our trading partners for almonds, pecans, and cranberries.
