Job Description
- Employment Status: Full time regular position, on worker-owner track
- Benefits: 100% health and dental premium coverage for employee, 50% for dependents, vacations, holidays, sick days, eligibility for worker ownership
- Department: Finance
- Report to: Finance Manager
Qualifications:
- Attention to detail and Time Management skills are critical
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
- Computer literacy; Great Plains/Dynamics experience strongly preferred
- Friendly, professional phone manner
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands
- An interest in Fair Trade and the mission of Equal Exchange
- Problem-solver

- Ability to learn from others and to work independently
- Experience working in and with co-operative businesses preferred
Responsibilities:
Accounting
- Maintain cash records and monthly bank reconciliations
- Complete monthly journal entries as needed
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements
- Work with Finance Manager on monthly and quarterly reports
- Timely recording of payroll and capital transactions
- Assist Capital Department with shareholder record-keeping
- Provide backup for Accounts Payable as needed
- Record purchases, depreciation, and disposition of fixed assets
Inventory
- Maintain records in connection with daily inventory receipts
- Update costs of new products (materials and finished goods) as needed
- Monitor fluctuations in price, report variations as necessary
- Reconcile electronic and Physical Inventory quantities for all locations
- Provide monthly inventory reports for accounting, insurance and banking requirements
- Assist in the completion of variance reports with regards to margins
Fair Trade & Worker Ownership Development
- Participate in staff, department and educational (Exchange Time) meetings
- Understand our producer partners and trading policies
- Understand and participate effectively in our worker-owner co-operative model
